Title: VP, Business Development – Eastern U.S.
Reports to: CEO

Position Summary:
Develop and secure new customers in the Health Insurance Payer market in the Eastern half of the United States. Our typical deals are comprised of a perpetual software licensing agreement, an implementation services engagement, and a multi-year production support and maintenance agreement. Our primary sales relationships within the Health Insurance Payer companies are with the CFO’s and Corporate Treasurers. Provide regular reporting on sales activity, develop territory management plans and execute on them, and attain annual revenue goals. This position can be based in or near any major metropolitan area on the East Coast (with convenient airport access), preferably in the Northeast. Candidates should expect to work out of a home-based office, and travel regularly within the assigned territory.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Generate a flow of sales prospects and new business through qualified sales leads and managing the sales process and relationships through to closing
  • Provide regular reporting on sales activity
  • Represent company in trade shows and make company presentations as requested
  • Monitor and provide market information, including competitive activity, to management team
  • Become proficient and maintain proficiency in company products/services, including the ability to provide professional product demonstrations in person and via the web.
  • Maintain pipeline and contact information in sales data management system
  • Extensive (up to 50%) travel

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive experience with consultative selling and relationship-building
  • Significant experience and success in the Healthcare Insurance Payer markets, with particular emphasis on financial systems and Payment Cycle transaction flows and systems
  • Extensive relationships with CFO’s and Treasurers of target markets
  • Considerable knowledge of healthcare payer economics
  • Ability to develop, and convincingly articulate crisp value propositions
  • Demonstrates a proven ability to meet and/or exceed sales goals
  • Proven success in managing sales process for large accounts
  • Ability to work independently
  • Polished, professional presence
  • Dynamic, energetic, and self-driven
  • Presentation skills (with all levels of organization)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint) proficiency
  • Knowledge and skill in using salesforce.com

Required Education, Training & Experience:

  • 10+ years of consultative selling experience, with at least 5 years in the healthcare payer market
  • BA/BS degree
  • Professional sales training, a plus
